This site is for informational purposes. There is no official group or organization that manages the Dip as it is basically a flash mob --just a rotating cast of private citizens who help coordinate some of the logistics that Juneauites have come to expect. This is done gladly as a public service to our community to ensure safety and quality of experience. Think of the Dip as similar to Thanksgiving: It would happen whether someone put it on the Community Calendar or not, no one owns it, and it goes a lot more smoothly if someone brings a turkey.

Participation in the Juneau Polar Bear Dip is undertaken solely at your own discretion and risk, and the makers of this site and anyone helping the event go smoothly cannot be held liable for the outcome of anyone's participation -though usually it makes people profoundly happy, and partial credit for that will gladly be accepted in the form of good karma : )
